This post contains my favorite recipes to cook on the grill in batches and easy ideas for transforming leftovers into another dinner later in the week. There is a menu and all the recipes below to simplify meal planning with delicious and healthy recipes.

Use the Grill to Meal Prep for the Week

The backyard grill has lots of real estate to double up your portions. This cooking method, often called batch cooking, involves preparing a large quantity of food at once, usually consumed over several meals or stored for future use. Plan two or more recipes that work off of each other to make meal planning easier. For instance, grill a large salmon filet, enjoy half that night, plan the remainder for fish tacos, or add to a Ceasar Salad for another meal. 

Benefits of Batch Cooking

These recipes recommend marinating the meat before grilling. Depending on the cut of meat/fish and tenderness, it may marinate for 1 -24 hours. Marinating can make meal planning tricky since it takes time and planning. Enjoy the benefits of your efforts and double or triple your portions to have leftovers for several meals. Additionally, grilled meats often develop more decadent flavors after sitting in the fridge for a day.

  • Quickens clean up since there are no inside splatters or cooking pans to clean up.

How to Store Leftovers Properly

Store the leftover meat portions with juices in a glass-lidded container for 3 – 4 days to maintain flavor and texture. I do not recommend cutting the extra portions before storing. Leaving the protein in larger pieces keeps the juices inside until ready to cut and heat for your leftover meal.
